Is this how Atlas shrugs?

It is getting to be tax time again and we are still largely under the Bush tax code. I should be grateful, but I am more annoyed than ever.

In spite of the recession, I have been personally swamped with work. In fact, the number of 12+ hour days for me in the past year has been too many. I did not have a single day off in the month of October and most of those days were 12-16 hours. The rest of the year has not been much different. This has been rough on me both physically and it has been weighing heavily on the home life.

I am not so much annoyed about paying taxes as I am about how the money is being spent. With the manner in which the bailouts and war on prosperity are being waged, it really is feeling like the actual intent of Obama is to rub the noses of work-a-holics like myself into the crap sandwich that they are calling a stimulus package.

Guess what? I don't have to work this hard.

Guess what? I can choose not to have a profit.

Guess what? If this social engineering spending crap in DC keeps up- I'm going to spend 2010 and beyond in the garden, on the golf course, out kayaking and sunning myself on the beach. I have already chosen to NOT keep up with the Joneses, I can now go buy all of their stuff for cash at a bankruptcy auction and enjoy myself for the next decade.

I didn't buy a small house within my means and work this hard so I could support people who did just the opposite. I am not only going to refuse to pay for your mortgage, I'm going to refuse to pay for all the social programs that have been architected to punish anyone working more than a 40 hour week.

This isn't Atlas shrugging- this is Atlas saying screw you, I'm not paying for your welfare state.

Don't worry, when I like the direction the country is taking, I promise to pull my money out of the mattress and actively put my labor to fruit bearing activities. Until then, the next time I come up for air, it will be many months of reporting zero on the ol' 941 before Obama see's a nickel from me again.
