Two other outlets worth reading

Two places I recommend going:

www.kenbalsley.com and http://legalinsurrection.blogspot.com/

Legal insurrection :

  • Legal insurrection is a far right blog by William A. Jacobson . The analysis is deep and hard hitting.

Ken Balsley:

  • For the past 2 years Ken has done something approximating honest local political commentary. Ken was once upon a time a staunch Democrat who then grew up and became, not a Democrat. He has paid advertisers and updates are nearly daily.

Two things interesting interesting about Ken's site;
1- He has what appears to be a viable competition to the liberal stenographers in MSM (aka lazy ass Brad Shannon of the Zero who writes stories with predetermined templates about events and politicos before the actual events and before even meeting with them).

2- While his coverage is fairly balanced, he is up front in his political leanings. Again, this is the exact opposite of MSM- where reporters parade themselves as not having a dog in the race, yet report on events as though they had all cheated off the same classmate's homework. Yes - again Brad Shannon is a prime example.

What is interesting about both of these is where they sit in my daily clicks. I have about 6-8 online sources of news and commentary that I click on more than daily. CNN (Call it Not News) gets clicked 10 times a month. The Zero is not daily nor is the Seattle Times.

Point: This represents a handful of nails in the coffin of MSM outlets. This points to a well deserved and self induced path to bankruptcy for the corrupt stenographers of yore.

Not about BBQs

Drawing from a favorite scene from Chariots of Fire, there's many a man who would love to share in our tough luck above ground.

Also- thoughts and prayers to my cousins from whom God called an angel home this morning. The fabric of our family is forever richer for her part, and our hearts are heavy in the loss.

Rep Adam Smith and congress applaud the Griego murderer's (who was a criminal illegal alien) "human right" to be in the United States

Update:

Rep Adam Smith’s office today confirmed that Adam was not in attendance to the Calderon speech where Dems stood up and applauded Calderon bashing US Immigration law via the Arizona Law. I checked with the house clerk and they could not confirm the attendee list. If you would like to enjoy watching Calderon bash US Federal law in front of a joint session in congress, you can watch the video again and again at http://www.clerk.house.gov/.

Smith’s office could not confirm if he was for allowing police to question the immigration status similar the Arizona Law which enforces Federal law. My original post was dead on the mark- because while Smith's aid had to check to see what his position on illegal immigration was, Dave Reichart's office was very forth coming about their position; he did not/would not applaud Calderon.

In other news, 10 of 27 criminals arrested as part of a gang crackdown in the Tri Cities were being held by police for immigration violations. Governor Gregoire has said she openly opposes enforcing federal law (which is what the Arizona law does)- so are Tri Cities police going rogue? Don’t they know those illegal alien gang members have a human right to be in Washington State, commit crimes against American citizens and not be harassed about their immigration status? These arrests and immigration holds are clearly “misguided” in the eyes of Gregoire- we need these people to pick apples on the cheap.

In even more "other news" terrorists who truly must be stupid to take this long to figure out how to walk across our open southern border, have been confirmed coming in across our southern border. Apparently they saw my stick drawing of Mohammed and his dog. Wow- it took them 20 years to figure that border crossing out eh? Well one can suppose there isn't a need to bother with walking through the hot desert when Homeland Security will let them come in via every other channel. Besides, drinks are better at the airport bar and its more convenient to fly an airplane into a building when you arrive via the airport.

Original Post:

Dear Representative Adam Smith,

The next time a foreign leader comes to this country to bash our laws, please find the courage to sit on your hands or find your feet and walk out on the lecture.

I invite you to go have a conversation with the Griego family. Their daughter was killed by an illegal alien while she was at work at the University of Washington. The result is (besides a dead American murdered by a criminal alien) the cash strapped UW now has to divert a couple million dollars in resources to violence prevention. Had you (Adam Smith) personally taken a stronger interest in securing our nations borders, the Griegos’ daughter might still be alive. While she took multiple measures to protect herself, your failure to have immigration laws enforced is the cause of her death. Had YOU done your job (Adam Smith), she would be alive today. Instead you give a standing ovation to a leader from a crime ridden country who wants to export his social woes, poverty and criminal elements to the United States.

Please also arrange for Calderon to visit with the family of the Arizona rancher killed by a drug smuggler.

You are likely familiar with the recent “stomping” incident by Seattle Police which involved multiple illegal aliens. You would be more compelled to act appropriately towards an America bashing foreign leader if you had a few more conversations with local law enforcement and crime victims as to the cost and impact of our neighboring countries social system failures on our taxpaying citizens.

A standing ovation for someone bashing our country for protecting our borders is paramount to treason. Mexico or any other country overrun with drug lords, mafia, and government corruption holds no moral position to lecture the United States on human rights. The only grounds for a standing ovation is if you had handed Calderon an invoice for the cost of Mexico’s crime and drugs spilling over into our borders.

Calderon deserves the single finger salute for his speech. I’m ashamed of Congress’s behavior today.

Your approval rating being in the sewer is well deserved and is exemplified by today’s actions. I am pleased the voters are waking up to this madness as recent primaries indicate your attitude is earning the scorn it deserves.

Hey Homeland Security, Check out my traffic

"Everybody Draw Mo" seems to be getting some hits.

While you might be able to go five levels out to find a connection to Kevin Bacon, I'm betting you'll find a terrorist in less than three.

Three more stores closing in the county: Yay stimulus!

The Zero points out that three local Dollar stores are closing.

IMPOSSIBLE... what with cash for clunkers and all the stimulus money pouring into the local economy???

Reality: All that money dumped into insulating trailer parks and widening the road in front of the Great Wolf Lodge was really just trickle up poverty. The non-tax paying tribes are stimulated along with Democrat campaign kickback funds, but no one else. [Sorry grandkids, you're getting screwed before you are born].

If ONLY the Puget Sound Partnership had bought their promotional Chapstick from the local Dollar store!!! Apparently the temporary census workers don't frequent these proprietors either.

Who applauded Calderon?

To the offices of Brian Baird and Adam Smith-

The Arizona immigration law is very clear in deferring to US Federal law in its enforcement of immigration laws. It is very important that your constituents hear your reasons for applauding a foreign dignitary bashing US Federal law in front of the body that makes those laws.

Calderon said, "I strongly disagree with the recently adopted law in Arizona. It is a law that not only ignores a reality that cannot be erased by decree, but also introduces a terrible idea: using racial profiling as a basis for law enforcement."

The Arizona law says
24 D. A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL OR AGENCY OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY,

25 CITY, TOWN OR OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS STATE MAY NOT CONSIDER
26 RACE, COLOR OR NATIONAL ORIGIN IN THE ENFORCEMENT OF THIS SECTION EXCEPT
27 TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY THE UNITED STATES OR ARIZONA CONSTITUTION.
28 E. IN THE ENFORCEMENT OF THIS SECTION, AN ALIEN'S IMMIGRATION
29 STATUS MAY BE DETERMINED BY:
30 1. A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER WHO IS AUTHORIZED BY THE FEDERAL
31 GOVERNMENT TO VERIFY OR ASCERTAIN AN ALIEN'S IMMIGRATION STATUS.
32 2. THE UNITED STATES IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT OR THE
33 UNITED STATES CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION PURSUANT TO 8 UNITED STATES
34 CODE SECTION 1373(c).

Fun: Tom Peters with Palin Derangement Syndrome

In my MBA program, I got introduced to the Tom Peters motivational phenomena. Tom has a strong brand as a motivational speaker. Wanting to know more, I picked up one of his books in 2002 and found him to be completely full of shit. After the nice slideware the man is complete vaporware. He and Barack Obama share that feature in common.

Like the dot com bubble, and every boy band that ever shot up the charts, it is fun to watch history unfold and collapse in on frauds and phonies. The irony of watching the speech below is the speech I watched prior was Tom encouraging enterprises to fail forward fast and to punish average success; something Obama has done swimmingly well at in his tenure.

There is a reason Zig Ziggler gets quoted and Tom Peters doesn't. Youtube explains.

You'll get a chuckle out of the campaign promises spewed in the first minute or so of the introduction. The REALLY hilarious part is Peters decrying Palin having access to "the button." He obviously feels much safer with a guy having access to the button who didn't know what the Hanford nuclear reservation and Superfund site was while campaigning 150 miles away from it.

Winston Churchill fan club

Olympia Chapter.

I don't like put my name on donations as it results in tons of unwanted phone calls or junk mail. So I either do it anonymously or put some random return name. I trust the orgs I donate to, ergo its cash in an envelope.

Today's contributor to my favorite org was the Olympia chapter of the Winston Churchill fan club.

As it turns out, there is such an entity, though not an Olympia chapter. I am the first to hold that patent. Cheers gang, and thanks for the calendar!

Puget Sound Partnership- creating a "sense of place" for our tax dollars

I've been railing on about the Puget Sound Partnership's money pit the size of the Pacific Ocean for a while now.

Apparently the State Auditor has an opinion here as well.

http://www.sao.wa.gov/findings/1003598.pdf

hat tip to the geeze

My major issue isn't the $3k in chapstick, the Apple notebooks, the $8k Nikon camera and other limosine liberal spending; this is like complaining about the expired license tabs on the burglar's car as he's driving off with all of your belongings. The real issue is the tens of millions of dollars being thrown into this political cesspool with no accountability whatsoever. Sorry grandkids, you've got 70% tax rates cuz David Dicks tossed your money into Puget Sound. Never mind the Sound never got cleaned up.

I do appreciate the auditor's findings and I will note the following:

1. I will be reinvesting a majority of my net income into my business for 2010. No vacations, no new furniture, no roof on the house, not even new plywood for the floor of my unfinished home office. More seriously this means putting off dental work. Thank goodness it's the back teeth eh?
2. My B&O taxes were just increased by a big chunk; EFFING OUCH! It's not cool to see my tax dollars spent on absolute garbage while I have to put off critical spending in my own household. Shared sacrifice apparently means the taxpayer sacrifices while politicians who vote for this spending spree get fleece jackets from the PSP.
3. I lack two crowns in my mouth because the associated dental bill will equal the PSP's chapstick budget.

Who will get my tourist dollars?

A few years back I visited the Opryland hotel while at a convention. It was spectacular. There is nothing quite like southern hospitality and there are few things that make me prouder as an American than how the people of Nashville have pulled together through the flooding.

I've heard a lot of elitist snobs goof on Americans as close minded because many of us go our entire life and never travel outside our own borders. This is because America rocks and we don't need to leave our borders to have a great vacation.

I have travelled and I also vote with my dollars. I can afford to go anywhere and I've been many places across Europe. As I accumulate more money, I'm less eager to go to many places in Europe and I can honestly say politics play into this sentiment. I don't like the anti American/anti conservative venom I saw spewed during the Bush years towards America. I have money and I'm not giving it to places that spit on our way of life. Although the landscape in Greece is probably lovely, I'll never vacation there until there are some serious reforms. I can say the same about many places in America. I won't go to Los Angeles or most of California unless I am absolutely forced to.

How you conduct yourself during and after a crisis matters.

I've been to Tennessee twice and it gets a strong thumbs up in my book. The rest of the world could learn a lot from you folks. You also get my thumbs up as a place to visit when on a road trip with the family. I wish you well through the recovery from the flooding. If you rebuild it, we will come back.

- update 5/14: Per the post above, in all honesty, I have to confess; you had better rebuild the convention area back up so I end up there on business, because at the frequency I travel for pleasure and spend money on myself, it may be a while.

Greece, I'm embarrassed for you

Your hour of misery is a very teachable moment to the rest of the world. Bloated government is the problem, not the solution.
