This a message and non partisan rant to Debbie and all other past, present and future candidates for the Sheriff''s office.
You've got a strong resume, but your partisan approach to the office is just plain creepy. There are two offices where I strongly feel partisan politics do not belong; Superior Court Judge and Sheriff.
It would be really bad to have the officer responding to a home invasion respond with the following "yeah sorry you got robbed and your family was assaulted, but you've got a Dino sign in your yard, so we're not going to go after the bad guys." The office is to serve and protect, it is not a soap box to push your own political agenda. So it is really absurd (or creepy) to introduce partisan politics into the race, which is what you are doing.
We've seen this political approach by our Superior Court Judges; they use their non partisan office to push their own political ideology, often breaking the rules they were elected to protect. Hence the birth of the gumball machine protection orders which protect no one, but are a tool of choice for unscrupulous divorce attorneys. On top of this, when your focus is on your partisan agenda, it's not on managing the office you are the custodian of.
What part of being a Democrat or Republican has anything to do with managing this office? Are we going to get diatribes on climate change and a push for hybrid patrol cars? One of the reasons we go the expense of voting on these non partisan offices is to avoid having a (D) or an (R) in another office appoint them- thereby making them politicized by induction.
For the record, I believe Dan Kimball (D) and even Gary Edwards (R) were both guilty of introducing partisan politics into their roles to some degree and to the detriment of their credibility. If you want to be a party hack politician and form public policy, run for the house, senate or county commissioner. If you want to serve the people, leave politics out of your resume.
I know Gary Edwards from seeing him at a lot of Republican events. Great for my interest in partisan politics, not so great for the office he used to hold (my opinion).
I know Dan Kimball not so much for his role as a manager, but for the fact that he was pushing sales tax increases and spending at every avenue. Great for big government, but not so great for being the custodian of the office he was elected to.
I would not know the other candidate for Sheriff (John Snaza) were it not for the fact that after I caught a would be burglar casing our neighborhood, he came out on his own time and helped us organize a neighborhood crime watch program. To me, that is how I want to know our future Sheriff. I do not want to see our future Sheriff focusing on whats good for their party. This is not a formal endorsement of John, just my experience.
What I do formally endorse is John's deliberate statement of keeping partisan politics out this office. Let the focus be on the resume for protecting us, not the belief in global warming or Obama's stimulus bill.
A political blog of all things Thurston (aka Hazard County) and many things from the fathers' rights front. The Olympian's Brad Shannon says this about the opinion and commentary expressed on this blog: "Filled with hate," "Disturbed," "Out of the mainstream." Hey, that's a call to action for the Tea Party generation if ever there was one.

Response to Obama's lame response
Malkin's blog points out today that Obama is blaming his lack luster response to the oil spill on small government.
Dear President Obama,
You fail to recognize that your weak and inept response to the oil spill could have been delivered by a leader of a federal government 1/1000 the size of the government you run. It's one thing to piss on our legs and tell us its raining. It's quite another to force us to pay a trillion dollars for this experience and say you need even more money and more control over our daily lives to make it better.
We all knew "two or three months ago" that the same leadership demonstrated by your team of experts during the cash for clunkers program and this oil spill will be the same administrative disaster running our health care system. We don't just say no to this, we are saying HELL NO!!!!
-Your constituents.
“Some of the same folks who have been hollering and saying ‘do something’ are the same folks who, just two or three months ago, were suggesting that government needs to stop doing so much,”

Initiative 1100: Getting the State out of the liquor business
We just did our Costco run and were delighted to find a table INSIDE Costco collecting signatures for initiative 1100. The initiative would close state liquor stores, authorize distribution and sales by the private sector and in general get the government monkey off the backs of producers and retailers.
To me, the current distribution of liquor in this state looks something like what we can expect the medical industry to be under Obama care; Costly (due to more than just sky high liquor taxes), inconvenient and full of unnecessary bureaucracy.
My only comment is, what the heck took grocers in Washington to move on this?

Sink the SS Corrie!
If only Caterpillar made boats.
Another terrorist funded flotilla is on its way to Gaza. In her hull are boxes of chocolate filled with rockets aimed for Tel Aviv.

I had McCartney pegged as a better man than that
From saint to weasel in one sentence.
The Brits are glad to be rid of a leftwing PM who calls little old ladies concerned about national security "bigot."
After the last eight years, it’s good to have a president that knows what a library is.”I look forward to having a President who knows what the Hanford nuclear reservation is and actually reads a law before commenting on it.

60% favor repealing government take over of healthcare
Saw this link to Rasmussen on Coulter's site. I assert some polled were the actual politicos in the house and senate who voted 'yes' and are now up for re-election. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/healthcare/march_2010/health_care_law

More Washingtonians raped and murdered by criminal illegal aliens
Didn't have to go far or wait long for another one.
One woman is dead and two others were raped recently and police say each crime was committed by a different illegal immigrant. One of the sexual assaults happened just hours before the Seattle city council passed an ordinance boycotting Arizona over its new immigration law.
So what is an American's life worth? Is it worth being able to harvest apples on the cheap?
What valid excuse can Christine Gregoire, Adam Smith and Brian Baird give to the families of those victimized by a violent criminal who was deported multiple times for violent crimes only to scurry back across our unprotected order?
Was it his "human right" to have free and unfettered passage back to the United States where he could be exempt from our laws and victimize our citizens? I doubt Mexico would be so careless in handling an American committing these atrocities on their citizens. No one thought to lecture Calderone about that before they applauded.
