Thoughts from Narnia

Outside of the Narnia books, I haven't read CS Lewis. I enjoyed these books as a kid and love the movies today. In reflection of all the symbolism Lewis was able to lay out in these brilliant works, I'm curious to know more of what he thought worthy to pen out. Not just because I am a conservative, but because this cat had a mind that I'd like a map of.

Wikipedia has a nice gem of a quote.

...Lewis became an atheist at 15, though he later described his young self as being paradoxically "very angry with God for not existing."

Which aptly describes nearly every atheist I've ever met.

Merry Christmas.

Christmas and Hanukkah Wishes to Ben Stein

As a Christian, I support Israel and Jews. Always will. But, that's not why I support Ben Stein. Ben is just a class act who has a calm, rational and intelligent way of exposing and confronting the truth (and false dogmas). Ben is a good American and a respectable man. A great Christmas gift (that I've given my fence sitting friends and family in the past) is the movie from a few years ago that scientifically discredited the old theory of evolution and reduced it (and atheism) to the junk science pile where it belongs. It also revealed the agenda of many in the education field who are desperately and purposely trying to hide the truth and outlaw such intelligent debates. Why so many Liberal Socialists in the education field? Enough said on that. My post today started out simply as a desire to share this email that is going around regarding Mr. Stein's recent comments on Christmas in America coming from the perspective of a Jewish man. I just appreciate his commentary and courage to stand up to this hostile, anti-Christ culture we live in. So, thanks Ben.

BTW, I have found the best response to "Have a merry season" or "Happy Season" is to say thanks and "Merry Christmas to you and yours." Don't people feel retarded saying "Happy Season" etc. It even sounds retarded. Anyone? Anyone? Beuller?

Ben Stein's remarks from CBS Sunday Morning Commentary....... (snopes verified)

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.

My confession:

I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees... I don't feel threatened.. I don't feel discriminated against.. That's what they are, Christmas trees.

It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, 'Merry Christmas' to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a crèche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.

In light of recent events... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc.. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about.. And we said okay..

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing yet?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit.

If not, then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

My Best Regards, Honestly and respectfully,

Ben Stein

SECA Tax: Self employed individuals to get raped in taxes in 2011

The most damaged victims in the political football / kabuki about extending tax cuts on marginal tax rates will be the self employed.

I called the offices of several of our congressional reps today on where the S-corp tax break was in the tax bill on the table right now.

Answer: It's not part of the current bill. It's not even on the table with the current bill. After calling several offices, I finally got a good update from Doc Hastings. These tax packages are part of an "extender's bill" which won't come up until next year.

Here's a quick tutorial of how this bill works. If a self employed individual nets 110k in a year and files as a S-corp, they can declare half of that income as salary on a W2 and the other half paid as a dividend. Given that you are hit with about 15% Social Security and Medicare taxes on W2 income, this results in a self employed individual taking home an extra $8k/year.

So to all of you liberals who HATE me, my politics and the desire of anyone who wants to get ahead by working their asses off, I'll point out to you that in 2011, self employed individuals in your community will have $8,000 less to spend here in your community.

You owe a big sorry to the people in our community who will be out of work because this money is in DC and not in Thurston county. Great job in your war on wealth.

It's a good thing all of those jobs were created by spending millions in tax payer money on insulating those trailer parks and widening the road in front of the tribal owned property tax free Great Wolf Lodge--- oh wait, that created zero jobs. Well then it's a good thing all those jobs were saved by cash for clunkers... oh wait....

God Bless Willie Nelson, Merry Christmas and other Political Correctness

A few politically correct thangs . . .

on Taxes - First, they are not "giving" anything back to us with the personal extensions. That rhetoric has got to stop. It was ours to begin with and we earned it. Andy's example of $8K being taken out of Hazard from S corps is the perfect example of how raising taxes for big, over-bloated government works. It's not trickle down economics when hard working Americans keep their hard earned income and spend it in the local economy. No, it's called trickle out economics when the government takes it away from individuals and the local economy. That, my friends, is where the recession rubber meets the road. Keep voting for Murray, Pelosi, Ohbomba and the rest. See where that gets us.

One other thought on Liberal Economics . . . If the Washington State government was a business, they'd now be out of business.

Willie just tellin' it like it is cuz that "*&it ain't right."

Lastly, "MERRY CHRISTMAS"

I will be making a conscious effort to wish everyone a Merry Christmas this year ...
As my way of saying that I am celebrating the birth Of Jesus Christ.
So, if you get this message on your email chain, pass it on. Maybe we can prevent one more American tradition from being lost in the sea of "Political Correctness." er that is "Incorrectness." Let's start acknowledging correct thinking for what it is not what the socialist Libtards would like you to say.

To One and All ! ! ! ! !
"Merry Christmas"
