While the tribes got a wider road going into the Great Wolf Lodge, Thurston County's electrical grid is still bailing wire and black tape.
I live in an area where the power goes down for about one week every year due to weather. I don't expect the government to fix that, and in fact I no longer care since we are adding a generator hook up. However it's been 4 years of infrastructure promises and stimulus spending and my observation is that the highly fragile electrical grid in the US is still a pile of junk that will fail if a child looks at it too hard.
I notice Obama isn't campaigning on his great infrsastructure improvements. Likely because there really hasn't been much done in the way of infrastructure, especially our electrical grid. The ONE nuclear plant that was "approved" likely isn't going to blow wind up the skirts of voters. Neither will those windmills that produce 1% of our nation's energy.
A political blog of all things Thurston (aka Hazard County) and many things from the fathers' rights front. The Olympian's Brad Shannon says this about the opinion and commentary expressed on this blog: "Filled with hate," "Disturbed," "Out of the mainstream." Hey, that's a call to action for the Tea Party generation if ever there was one.

Retard is now a race?
Again, I'm not watching the Olympic games, but since this crap dominates the news cyle, I hear about it whether I want to or not.
I happen to agree with the expulsion for the Swiss Soccer player's tweet, the comment was horrible sportsmanship, however its still not racism. Unless since the last time I checked South Korea is a race AND a country OR retard suddenly became a term unique to skin color or national origin.
"I want to beat up all South Koreans! Bunch of mentally handicapped retards!" Michel Morganella
Assessing that comment as racist shows how far gone into race baiting the world is. Meanwhile I remain deeply disgusted that the PC civility police continue to turn a blind on the openly hostile and racist behavior of the Muslim teams towards Israeli competitors.

The Grisham Novel "Madera"
The collusion and corruption setting up, running and still operating the Madera subdivision is quite an interesting tale. It involves a lot of developer dollars, county officials, title companies, R/E companies, long time Oly insiders, the legal racket and gopher career state employees trying to ram Oly insider justice/corruption down the throats of any law abiding citizens legally and ethically standing in there way. More on that later . . . The Grisham Novel "Madera" (Stay tuned).
My only question today for the county commissioners and gray hairs of the county with their gestapo judges is why they let a bunch of Evergreen State College hippies live in huts, raise livestock and grow weed on the Kelly property when they have already sent a strong message when they shut down the Burnell property. I thought that sort of thing was not tolerated 'round these parts. Well, the Kelly commune is tucked away from the main drag and out of sight. So, I guess they can turn a blind eye to a long time county insider, trespasser and property line violator like Dan Kelly whereas the property rights of Mr. Burnell had to be addressed since he was in everyone's eyesight across the street from the prestigious name your own grade college. Mr. Burnell wasn't quick enough keeping up with the creative arts TESC student's obscene graffiti "art" on his fences. If he only kept his fences patrolled and free of "art." As far as Kelly goes, who knows, maybe and perhaps there is some "grooming" going on over there too. Well, that explains it! It's a Thurston party. Yee Haw, Hazard County!

Grooming
A few years back I was rubbing elbows with some of the most conservative and politically active Christians in Thurston County. The topic came into question about the Olympia Capital Playhouse theatre. There were tons of rumors (all negative) which I chalked up to folks getting a little too into the campaign.
One of the themes from a now grown up kid who had been an ancillary part of the theatre group described the bunch as creepy and it seemed to have the vibe that they were "grooming." As it turns out, there is more truth to that report than I originally gave credence to.

Olympics? Not since 1984
I am going to go on a rant here about the Olympics. Keep in mind, I put myself through college on a track scholarship and competed at a fairly elite level while getting an engineering degree. Some have done the two things together better than me, but you'll count them on two hands over a span of decades while drawing names from a pool of tens of thousands of athletes. I'm not an armchair critic. I have also not wached the Olympics since 1984.
While I'm not annoyed by someone spending all of their time and energy becoming a high performing athlete, I'm also not impressed by it. Unless you are one of the few who translates that to a multimillion dollar career, your time would have been better spent being a high achiever in some other endeavor. I'm not saying Olympians are bad, rather they have misspent their passion.
With this said, I think I can sum up my rant in 3 lines regarding why my attitude this year toward the Olympics has gone from "just don't care / not interested in it" to antipathy, disdain, contempt and even product level boycott of sponsors during the games.

- No moment of silence for the massacre of the Israeli's at the Munich Olympics.
- Greek triple jumper thrown out over mosquito joke while the Olympic committee is completely OK with Muslim athletes refusing to practice in the presence of Israeli athletes and some even refusing to compete against Jewish athletes!
- Even the consideration that the US would bow its flag.
Conspiracy Theory: DOJ and Seattle Police II
Earlier I noted that the high fines assessed by Eric Holder's DOJ against the Seattle Police Department was probably a shakedown. The fines would be reduced or removed via backroom deal IF the following occurred.
1. Seattle funnelled public money to an Obama campaign bundler.
2. The Seattle/KC elections were able to architect some election fraud.
Well guess whose fingerprints are on the deal being cut? US DOJ attorney Jenny Durkin! Anyone who can remember to 2004, Durkan was the attorney representing the Democrats/Gregoire while they fished ballots out of thin air to win the 2004 Governor's race on the second recount.
Word getting loose that the Obama bundlers are now now doing fund raising to do court battles and post election ballot challenges in all 50 states. With Durkin's fingerprints on this skakedown, they're likely doing more than fundraising in Seattle.

The left likes to crucify rich individuals who contribute big money to politics, but only when its politics they disagree with. I'm not holding my breath to hear the outrage over big money going into the left's support for gay marriage.
This was a law passed by our elected officials. Our elected officials views on this issue should not vary from the popular vote so much that millions in campaign contributions are needed? Washington State is largely left leaning, so why exactly does a state that votes for "progressive" failures time and again need this much financial coercion to vote for what is being portrayed as "equal rights." This isn't a sales tax bill where it will cost each of us money.
For the record, I whole heartedly support the rights of rich individuals to put money behind campaigns, regardless of their political view. I think it is telling that a viewpoint that claims to be righteous has to spend this much coin to convince left leaning voters of that.
Gay marriage is like a turkey burger, dress it up any way you like, it's not a hamburger. You can put it on the menu for those who want it (civil unions), but don't try and pass it off as a hamburger.
In case you missed this episode of turkey vs beef burger, Ron Swanson gives everyone a plain hamburger on a bun with an optional squeeze of ketchup and unanimously wins the taste test.

Chick-fil-A
I'm lobbying Chick-fil-A to come to Washington. I firmly swear if one opens in the Olympia area I will eat there not less than once a month for the first year.
I've heard the Chick-fil-A story annectdotally for years now, some stories of the owners go wayyyy back and are really impressive. I'd love to see one open in the Olympia area, not only for the political hay that would get made from haters of family values, but also for some awesome food.

Gun sales spike in Colorado
Update....similar trend locally in King County
There has been a 41% spike in gun sales in Colorado since the movie theatre massacre. Oddly people don't see disarming themsevles as the answer to thugs committing mass murder in gun free zones. Yet policy makers are running as fast as they can to restrict gun rights.
I'm still dismayed that this (like most massacres) happened in a gun free zone. Didn't Holmes see the sign? Didn't he know the statute? Perhaps it should have been more multi cultural and printed in 20 different languages like our voting pamplets.
For those who say an armed person wouldn't have made a difference, I'll give you $500 if you can remain standing while having a standard 9mm magazine emptied into you with full body armor in circumstances similar to the dark theatre. If after getting hit once, you can get a paintball shot to connect with the person shooting at you I'll up it to $1k.
Really, what could have been worse in that scenario if even one person had been able to shoot back? Taking out an armed person shooting at you with an inferior weapon is a dramatically different dynamic than slaughtering unarmed cattle.

Rob McKenna, another RINO with a losing strategy
RINO Rob McKenna may have the lead in polls, but his is a losing strategy. Once upon a time I thought social conservatives should stop being such cry babies over issues like abortion, traditional marriage and hold their nose while voting for a fiscal conservative. Then John McCain showed the world what a terrible strategy that was. Those days are past.
Again and again McKenna has thumbed his nose at conservative values and taken conservative voters for granted while running to the left. The left has a candidate, his name is Jay Inslee. If people want failed liberal policies, they will vote for Inslee, not a cheap John McCain run to the middle wannabe.
Case in point: Giving the Boy Scouts a sharp stick in the eye over their position of not allowing openly gay youths to be part of scouting. Why couldn't McKenna just respect an institution of childhood that is openly against indoctrinating sex into our youth? I applaud an organization with a motto where "Be prepared!" doesn't mean carry a condom or the morning after pill. How is that policy anti gay? To the militant gay crowd, any policy that isn't putting gay on parade is anti gay. News flash to McKenna, you didn't win any left wing gay supporters and that's because you have an (R) by your name.
Next case in point: Obamacare. This blog applauded McKenna's suit against the law that had to be passed so we could find out what's in it. While I am sure it may contain a few clauses which make sense, I'm not going to change my zip code to Hades because I like the happy hour menu at the bar. Rather than encourage ideas that make sense as an alternative, McKenna threw conservatives under the bus and ran to the left. That's not a leader, that's a 7th grade girl (sorry to insult any 7th grade girls who actually don't crave the approval of people who will never like you anyway).
Rob McKenna is taking conservatives for granted. Conservatives are a tough bunch and while I'm far from an Ellen Craswell voter, my nose holding fingers already have carpel tunnel from supporting Mitt Romney. I'll be happy to lend him a pen to write his concession speech in November, but that's as far as this conservative will go to support him.

Why we need a stand your ground law, and why Zimmerman wouldn't have cared if he did know.
I hadn't thought of this recent incident again until radio personality John Curley (with self deprecating humor) said he pulled a George Costanza when a dog came after him and his family. John's account of the incident was that he ran for safety (leaving his family behind in the danger zone). Now John was just going on instinct, and since the dog was on a chain, it was probably the right instinct, whereby he could return to the danger zone with a stick or something defensive and get his family out of harms way if they couldn't outrun the dog before it ran out of chain. John's instincts were exactly correct.
A week or so back, I had a similar encounter with a dog who was not on a chain while we were walking (wife, baby, and two 12 year old geriatric dogs). The dog was trying a little too frantically to break through the gate at the end of its driveway. At first glance, it looked like a pit bull in both stature and aggressive behavior. My first instinct was that this was not going to end well for any living thing on my side of the gate. I yelled at my wife to get her and our dogs clear of area (NOW!) and positioned myself between my family and the dog who was now half way through the gate. I braced myself to do as much physical harm to the dog as I could if it tried to pass me. If I was lucky I would get it by its neck and subdue it. If I was unlucky, I'd be getting the hell bitten out me while my family got to safety.
As a distance runner, I've dealt with aggressive dogs many times before and have been bitten on occasion. None have been pit bulls, but knowing what one of those things can do to a pedestrian I was not happy about my prospects over the next few minutes. Showing authority and physically not retreating fast will make most dogs stay at bay and make the dog take the defensive as it needs to size up a potential aggressor before attacking.
After the dog got through the gate I was relieved to see it was NOT a pit bull, though it was still behaving aggressively and coming out at me in a very aggressive manner. I yelled and stomped my foot, while continuing to yell at my wife to get her, the baby and our dogs further back. Next in line would be our dogs and a giant vet bill if this thing got passed me. As I stood my ground the dog got the message that I would be an aggressor if it came too close. At that point the dog stayed back in its territory. With the owner was coming out as fast as possible, the crisis was soon averted w/out contact. I apologized briefly to the owner because I felt the presence of our dogs outside of the gate had probably provoked the incident and also because I hate people who are overly dramatic about barking dogs (even though this one did break through a gate) who are simply keeping their owners home safe.
I'm not a bad ass and I think if it had been a pit bull, I'd have been carried away in an ambulance (or worse). However my family would have been safe. I'm just glad the other guy on our street isn't an idiot with a mean pit pull running loose.
The lesson here is I didn't need a law to tell me what to do. I wasn't going to consult with authorities to protect myself or my family. I wasn't packing a gun, pepper spray or even a stick. I didn't care if I was in the right or wrong or what the consequences might be. In that 5-10 second window, me or the dog would have been dead if the scenario had played out the way my instincts had predicted. If I had a weapon, I wouldn't have used it unless actual biting was occurring. I'd feel really bad about killing my neighbors dog for breaking through the gate, even if I was in the right. This isn't far off from how one behaves when confronted by a human aggressor. You do what you need to do; no more and no less.
However "Stand Your Ground" laws mean I wouldn't be sued into oblivion or worse, be sitting in a jail cell. That's why we need them.

Why Socialism is a threat to our democracy and America
I've not heard it put more succinctly than this. Hat tip to the Glenn Beck show.
Forward to 1:49
Forward to 1:49
“This is an issue between democracy and socialism. Now when we talk about socialism that sounds politically incorrect but as a Catholic I earned a free pass to talk about socialism because others who had stood with us have died died at the hands of the socialists for the past two centuries.”
“And we know a little something about religious persecution and I’d like to share a few reflection. The first is whenever we have a religious liberties stopped it is a hallmark of socialism and will not be compatible with Christianity for two reason. Personal choice, and private property. Personal choice has to do with the personal conscious because you’re responsible and accountable for all the things that God has given to us. That allows us to private property so we can than generous and return it to Lord and savior. Government, socialists, socialists want to take that responsibility away from us.”
“That goes against our religion. We see — we believe conscience and private property are not human ideas. They come from God. Not from humans.”
“Socialists do not accept biblical truth. They do not understand natural law. You see we believe these are from our creator endowing with the life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Sounds familiar? It should because they are framed in our constitution. Therefore we know that socialism will never be compatible with our democracy the way we have it. As we face this third century of this threat I as a Catholic invite everyone of conscious to join us in this fight to join in fight against our religious liberty.”

and the award goes to....
I despise being rude in polite company, but I've been uncorking on libs running their mouths off lately. Yes I know it always ends with them swearing, calling you names and rolling on the floor like children having a tantrum, but I've had enough. You sit there and be polite while they assume you not confronting them with a drill sergent yell and crazy eyes two inches from their nose means what they are doing is ok.
When it comes to political discourse, I'm loaded for bear, but I really hate it engaging in it, because at best you just piss them off and stem them from doing it again. At worst your a boorish drag in social circles.
So imagine how it is for a black conservative to uncork. Well I can say, damn, that takes balls. That's why I'm giving the brass balls award to blogger Savannah. Follow her rants and debates on twitter.

Gates and Balmer cynical about their gay cause?
Both Bill Gates and Steve Balmer dumped 100k of their own respective money in to support the gay marriage vote coming up this fall. Why? Do gay activists think Washington voters are biggots? I mean, why would any Washingtonian vote no on gay marriage if it is indeed about equality? After all our elected representatives did the right thing, didn't they?
Are they so cynical as to believe that more than 50% of Washingtonians are anti gay? While I'm sure you can find any demographic of haters of anything to run as high as 10-15%, but MORE than 50%? Pshaw.
Maybe this changing of the marriage contract and all that entails for 1-2% of the population who don't really need it, except to drive a secular anti family and conservative hating agenda isn't quite so popular among the other 98%.
Why do gays need me to recognize their union of two souls? I sure as shit don't care if they or the government or anyone else except God and my wife recognize ours.

George Barner- running for County Commissioner
I have to tread carefully here, because I call George a friend. How close? Well, he still needs to return the Casablanca and Winston Churchill DVDs I lent to him when he was in the hospital this past winter, but other than that, we are cool. I'm also a GOP PCO.
Many others with the same political views as me have talked public policy with George for many hours. I don't agree with George on a lot of issues or approaches to public policy, but he listens and can see your logic when you make a good case. He will also act accordingly. From what I know of George, he's the kind of guy that will call BS on the government mowing down individuals, though I am curious to see his official position on the Thurston County land grabs.
While he's not a conservative (which is what I WANT in a county commissioner), George's motivations for running for Commissioner are genuine. He's running as an independent Democrat. I can't say the specifics of what he's said in private or even the context, but from the political events of the past few years and hearing his honest assessment make me assess that he is an indpendent thinker and not a party hack. (Sorry George if that gets you in trouble with the party hacks). Basically I think he's coming from an assessment that government at all levels has overstepped its bounds and is now stepping on more people than its helping. While a lot of Democrats are running away from their party to keep their office, I have a degree of certainty that this not a calculated power grab because he's likely going to be running against the local Democrat machine on this run, and that is a strong machine here in Thurston County.
Let's put it this way, if I can't have a conservative in that office, I'd rather have George Barner than any other Democrat. Just don't lend him your DVDs, because you don't know when you'll see them again, but if he's watching a lot of my Winston Churchill documentary, I'm ok with that.

Moonshine
On the lighter side:
I've been a bucket brewer for some years now. The beer is great and is a lot cheaper than buying retail. While I'm a fan of good whiskey, I've yet deemed it not worth the effort to build a still. But I've been hearing of people who have and apparently it's picking up steam. Case in point, see Seattle Times article:

Family lore has it that I've got some great great uncles who were quite the craft distillers. From a public policy perspective, I'm generally ok with the government not cracking down on grower users on the pot scene in much the same way I don't think its worth busting down a well run still. So long as it doesn't go into commercial production, there is no harm to the public, except loss of tax revenue, which the government sets on fire or pisses away anyway. That's the libertarian in me.
Compared to how the tribes are screwing us on taxes, home stillers aint got nothing on the sovereign nations. So no, I won't get upset about paying tax at Safeway for JD when an engineer distills his own. If he paid himself $2/hr for his craft, he'd be money ahead buying from Safeway.

Another Abusive Family Court Judge goes Scott Free
Hello Andy and our two fans out there - I've been a little focused on making a livin' and other funner things as of late. So, I've been able to blissfully ignore the corruption around including the family court jesters. But, this landed in my inbox and was just too good not to share. This right here would be funny if it wasn't just another typical day in a crooked family court. I love the way it's all fine and good for them to mess with YOUR family but woah Nelly don't post their deeds in the light of day or implicate their family in their dark and dirty family court deeds. This explains why they go by a different name as their spouse, live in Tacoma, don't register their real or full name in the voter data base or remain as anonymous as possible from a public search. I also love the way this judge acknowledges he should recuse himself and then goes ahead with the pounding anyway. On top of that, ya think the wonderful CJC would step in or the Supremes. But, no, "we don't do Mandamus anymore" despite what the Constitution says. No, this judge, like any other abusive power trippin judge/commissioner, will not even get a hand slap. It is no wonder most people have no respect for judges and lawyers. They have no interest in weeding out any of the "bad" ones. Frankly, that just says a lot about ALL of them. Uh, your "Honor."
Happy Summer.
Angler out/Peace out. Peace B Love, my friends.
judge has outburst in court - (click for story)
Oh PS - I heard Schaller and the clip cut feminist family court benefactors that run the GAL and visitation businesses were spotted out canvassing Lacey neighborhoods on Sunday. I guess the Schaller campaign trumps a good bra burning march on the capitol. We sure did miss 'em at Church on Sunday.
